Jane-Scott Cantus


Jane-Scott Cantus leverages 20 years of experience in building businesses by consulting to corporations, private equity funds and professional services entities.  Through ILEX Leadership Associates (ILA), she advises clients on management assessment, benchmarking and planning, board development, and senior executive recruitment.  In 2009, ILA became affiliated with The ILEX Group, a marketing and government relations firm focused on the industrial/infrastructure, defense/aerospace, homeland security and technology industries.   Ms. Cantus serves as General Counsel of The ILEX Group and provides marketing and business development strategies and assists in establishing and managing efficient legal and human resources functions for the firm’s clients. 

Her professional experience includes creating customized wealth management solutions for individuals, families and foundations for clients of Fiduciary Trust International, a corporation that remains a key client of the firm and previously with the Private Wealth Management division of Morgan Stanley & Company in New York City.  She earned her start-up operations stripes when she established, marketed, staffed and managed the Virginia office of Christian & Timbers (now CTPartners) and co-opened the Virginia office of Korn/Ferry International.  As Managing Director of C&T, she also recruited CEOs and their direct reports to venture-backed companies.  As Principal at Korn/Ferry International, she recruited CEOs and their direct reports to corporations in a wide variety of industries (Advanced Technology, Aerospace/Defense, Association/Not-for-Profit, Financial Services, Industrial, Professional Services and Venture Capital/Private Equity).  Early in her career, she held financial and management positions with Bechtel Corporation and Martin Marietta Corporation (now Lockheed Martin). 

Ms. Cantus holds a BA in history from Duke University, an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and a JD from George Washington University.  She is admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and holds NASD Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.  She was appointed by Virginia Governor Mark Warner to the Board of the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority and is serving her second term.  She is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Pentagon Foundation, a national non-profit benefitting military personnel and their families in the areas of financial literacy, housing and support for the wounded.

She serves on the Board of The George Town Club and is Chapter II Vice President of the Capital Speakers Club.  She has served on the Executive Committee and as Chairman, Finance of the Washington Antiques Show and on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Leadership Group of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.  She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Washington and member of the alumni council of Kappa Kappa Gamma.  Ms. Cantus is active with the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Greater Washington Board of Trade and the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce.  Ms. Cantus served 15 years on the Executive Committee of the Alumni Board of Directors for Darden and is past President of its Washington, DC Alumni Chapter.  She is a past member of the Organizing Board for MindShare.
